Many plants buy refractory from one vendor and hire a separate contractor to install it. Others give the whole job to one party. Both can work; the right choice depends on the job.
When supply only makes sense
- You have an experienced in-house refractory team
- The job is small, routine and well understood
- You are stocking spares and consumables
- You already have a trusted installation contractor
When supply with installation is better
- Large relining jobs inside a tight shutdown
- New linings or design changes
- Repeated early failures where the cause is unclear
- Linings that need controlled dry-out and documentation
The hidden cost of splitting the job
When a lining fails early and the material and installation came from different parties, each can blame the other. Sorting it out takes time, while the plant bears the cost of the shutdown. With one party owning the specification, the material and the installation, responsibility is clear.
What to ask any supplier
- Can you share data sheets and test certificates?
- Who supervises the installation?
- Is dry-out included in the scope?
- What documentation do we get at handover?
JISPL offers both: material alone at manufacturer rates, or supply with installation by our own crews.
